Czech President Challenges U.N.’s Panel on Climate Change

KlausAt least one world leader has it right. According to the Drudge Report, Czech Republic President Vaclav Klaus isn’t buying the heavily politicized U.N. report on climate change.

“Environmentalism as a metaphysical ideology and as a worldview has absolutely nothing to do with natural sciences or with the climate,” Klaus told Hospodárské noviny, a Czech daily newspaper. “…Still, it is becoming fashionable and this fact scares me.”

And here’s the zinger, “…it’s obvious that environmentalism is a new incarnation of modern leftism.”

In a few short sentences, Klaus has managed to tell those who still value intellectual curiosity all they need to know about the so-called “science” behind global warming alarmism.

Why Traditional Media is Ignoring the Railroading of Border Patrol Agents Compean and Ramos

The case of wrongly-convicted U.S. Border Patrol agents Jose Compean and Ignacio Ramos demonstrates precisely why traditional media is dying a slow death by self-inflicted wounds.

Eunice Moscoso, writing for the Cox News service today, has graciously provided us a textbook example of an increasingly leftist world-view held by the increasingly arrogant and disconnected mainstream journalist set. Her piece opened with this sentence:

“Former Border Patrol agents Jose Alonso Compean and Ignacio Ramos have become famous in conservative circles, in a case which shows the power of talk radio and the blogosphere.”

Moscoso, like others of her ilk, has evidently concluded that those who wish to stem the tide of illegal immigration in favor of, say, legal immigration, must be motivated by racism and therefore, should be categorized as conservative. Morcoso, along with news giants like the New York Times, time and again expose a very narrow set of biases informed by leftist ideology that they assume are also held by their audience. Even New York Times Chairman Arthur Sulzberger is clueless as to why his newspaper is fading away and admits they may stop printing in five years. His leftist blinders won’t allow him to see that most Americans don’t agree with him.

That’s why they’re now blaming the internet for the steep decline in circulation by almost every major newspaper in America. In almost paranoid fashion, Morcoso attributes the “fame” of Compean and Ramos among “conservatives” to talk radio and the blogosphere, insinuating that the case is not newsworthy in and of itself. In other words, traditional media can’t understand what all the fuss is about, so they simply choose to ignore the wealth of evidence suggesting that the Border Patrol agents have been railroaded by the U.S. Department of Justice.

Yet, if it were not for the internet that Sulzberger fears, most of us would know little or nothing of the plight of Compean and Ramos, but a whole lot about the tawdry life of Anna Nicole Smith. WorldNetDaily.com has done an admirable job of investigating the details of the case – here are some of the results of their efforts:

Government admits lying about jailed border agents

Imprisoned border agent did report shooting

The Anti-Christian Left Has Targeted One of America’s Oldest Christian Chapels

The College of William and Mary is the second oldest college in the United States and it is located in the heart of Williamsburg, Virginia, which happens to be the oldest chartered city in America. The Christopher Wren Building, which has stood on the William and Mary campus since 1695, is the oldest surviving academic building in America. Attached to the Wren Building is an Anglican chapel which was added on and opened in 1732.

Wren Chapel

Inside the Wren chapel is a small brass cross that has been there for six decades. Makes sense since the chapel was built for the purpose of Christian worship more than 300 years ago. But now, the decidely anti-Christian left wants the cross removed in an apparent attempt to cleanse the chapel of any association with its Christian past.

Despite the large number of folks who have asked the college to leave the cross where it is, including wealthy alumni who are threatening to pull the plug on future donations, faint-hearted college President Gene Nichol is ready to acquiesce to the leftists. In the typical multi-culti gibberish the leftists love to use to force compliance, Nichol said, “It’s the right thing to do to make sure that this campus is open and welcoming to everyone. This is a diverse institution religiously, and we want it to become even more diverse.”

But is this issue one of religious tolerance or religious intolerance? The small number of students and other leftists who have been attracted to the conflict sound more like vampires, deathly afraid of a cross, than reasonable people concerned with tolerance. Consider for example Ro’ee Mor, an Israeli Orthodox Jew who complained that attending orientation in the chapel made him uncomfortable. The presence of an 18″ tall cross has caused him so much distress that he has joined the rabble calling for it’s removal? Can you imagine a Christian student complaining about the presence of a Menorah or the Koran at an otherwise secular event such as a college orientation?

President Nichol is demonstrating that he is clearly not the man to lead such a distinguished and historic institution of higher learning. The College of William and Mary deserves someone who has the guts to define the real issue, which in this case is an attack on a Christian landmark disguised as religious tolerance.

Is America Listening?

While the American flag remains incredibly popular here in America, in most European countries, to fly the flag of one’s country is anathema. The aversion Europeans have for their flags is, however, only a symptom of the disease of cultural and social exhaustion that is leading them towards disaster.

Bernard Lewis is one of those individuals who is virtually unknown to most Americans, but considered perhaps the most influential expert in his field, which happens to be the study of Islam and it’s relationship to the West. Lewis is currently the Cleveland E. Dodge Professor Emeritus of Near Eastern Studies at Princeton University whose counsel is sought on a regular basis by U.S. policymakers.

According to NewsMax.com, Lewis has told the Jerusalem Post that Muslims “seem to be about to take over Europe,” taking advantage of the current European trend toward “self-abasement, political correctness and multi-culturalism.” According to Lewis, Europe’s fate is sealed and the only question that remains is, “Will it be an Islamized Europe or Europeanized Islam?”
