Pahrump, Nevada, is a fast growing town with a population of around 30,000 and is located a comfortable 60 miles outside Las Vegas. It is also squarely in the crosshairs of the ACLU’s snipers for the crime of trying to take a stand against the U.S. government’s refusal to enforce immigration laws.
Like many towns all across America that have recently passed laws to stem the tide of illegal immigration, Pahrump has passed a law making it illegal to fly the flag of another country unless it is accompanied by an American flag of equal or larger size. Pahrump also passed laws to make English the official language and to deny illegals free city services. The crowd at the city council meeting enthusiastically cheered as the propositions passed and booed a representative of the ACLU as well as one resident who fretted over “Hispano-phobia.”
Lee Rowland, an ACLU ambulance chaser and part-time shill who attended the meeting ominously warned the townfolk, “If you pass an ordinance that is blatantly in violation of the First Amendment, this town will be on the hook.†The ACLU’s position is, of course, that local regulation of flags as opposed to, say, signs, is a violation of First Amendment free speech protections.
The ACLU’s motive however, has nothing to do with free speech and everything to do with a strategy for the systematic destruction of America as we know it. If that were not true, the ACLU would also be defending those whose right to say the Pledge of Allegiance or to pray in school has been denied.
This is great. This type of law would crush the housing market, since the federal reserve bank is so desparate to sell housing, and has issued new rules making it easier for undocs to buy homes. Funny, Rush Limbaugh would be for this law. But then he denied the housing bubble completely, calling it a Democratic ploy, if I remember correctly.
So go ahead Pahrump, and get this law passed universally, and the bubble will crash that much harder. So much for the argument that undocs don’t add to the community.
Now, in saying the above, I am not saying that undocs do not create, in many cases, a social crisis with government services. But most do contribute and the federal reserve bank sees them as important new customers in the housing sector. I am just saying this is a complicated issue.
Wow…that’s the most impressive load of double talk bullshit that I’ve seen since Kerry of ‘04.
The ACLU has one purpose, to defend the constitution, which by the way is the substance of this country for which the flag is the mere symbol. Defending the symbol while ignoring the substance is for fools and fascists.
The flag is never so profound a symbol of this coutry as when it is defaced in protest. A country that believes in its principles more than its symbols is a great country. I have never seen a flag burned, and hope that I never do. However, I would rather witness that than to see abridged freedom in the name of patriotism.
We are the children of revolutionaries who created a system where government is restrained and people have freedom. Curtailing those freedoms is unamerican. Adding to the central government’s power over individuals is unamerican.
So, use your freedom of passionate expression, and wave your flag. However, do not use it to advocate the restriction of that same right for those who might disagree with you. Not if you believe in your country and its constitution as much as you believe in its flag.
What about the federal flag code of 1942 CE which says national flags should be displayed at the same height.
America is going to hell in a hand basket thanks to all you bleeding heart libs. Why not invite our enemies over as well and let them fly their flag instead of OURS?
