Largo, I am an independent. I am not a Dem. I am not a liberal. However, I am of the view that the Bush admin always wanted to finish the job in Iraq in order to give the oil companies what they wanted. Cheney facilitated this, and now he is disgraced. If you don't think oil was the main reason we went in, Largo, then I urge you to read and study, as the evidence is irrefutable.

I don't hate Bush. I just think he has botched his presidency. I don't personally dislike him. I actually feel sorry for him, that he listened to that smooth liar Cheney. But the entire US fell for Cheney's lies, so Bush had no chance. So I feel sorry for him because he trusted a bad dude.

You want to find a way to get Gary to shut up, ask him what he, as a Democrat thinks is the best way to deal with the Muslim threat, other than the Dem tactics of "appease and surrender".

He'll throw a bunch of bullshit at you, but not give you any options other than "Bush is evil, Bush is evil, Bush is evil."

Not to mention the fact that Gary, like most Democrats, hate Bush so much, he's willing to help the Muslims destroy America just to get rid of Dub-Yah.

Gary,

I appreciate your passion, but I think you are wrong.

First let me say that I never thought Afghanistan and Iraq were that great of an idea. The reason is that neither of those actions properly identify the problem, which is radical Islam. Going after Bin Laden ignores the fact that there are literally millions of Muslims who would like to wipe America off the face of the earth simply because we are not like them. It's a little like trying to wipe out a nest of cockroaches with a hammer. You'll get a few of them, but the results will be meaningless.

Typing "Bush Iraq Oil" into a search simple brings up the people who believe Bush is after the oil. That doesn't make it true. And as far as energy consumption is concerned, when people like George Clooney and Al Gore can't bring themselves to fly in commercial jets and instead, zip around in private jets, they better not lecture the common folk about conserving energy.

I'm not a big fan of George Bush, but I think your visceral hatred for the man is irrational at the very least.

Tom type in the words (Bush Iraq Oil) into any search engine and you will realize that we invaded Iraq for oil. This was at best imperialism and at worst war crimes. How can you sleep at night knowing this president did not even care that soldiers died for gas for suv's and he did nothing to conserve rather than send soldiers. I believe Katrina was a judgement against George Bush. He got what he deserved but others suffer for his agression.

The major reason the Repubs lost was Iraq. That is almost universally accepted as the major reason. Most pundits both right and left agree. Rummy left so fast after the election that I was shocked. 11 million dollars an hour and many troups being wounded and killed is beyond fiscal responsibility, especially when we are treading water. We will be out sooner than you think, and as I have been saying, it will do nothing to help the terrorists win, just like getting out of Nam did not help communism win the cold war.

In the other thread you posted that it would not be Iraq. You said: "Recent polls show that while a majority of voters question the prosecution of the war, they don’t neccessarily believe we shouldn’t be there. In fact, a slight majority actually agree that involvement in Iraq is an inevitable part of a larger war on terror. Turner is preaching to the choir and anti-war views in general don’t indicate what the real problem is for Republicans. Instead, Republican politicians up for re-election are facing a constituency that feels betrayed by Bush and congressional Republicans in two key areas - the economy and immigration."

The impression is that you thought the economy and immigration would determine the race, not Iraq. It is my view that Iraq was the major issue. And now that Rummy is gone, the Bush 1 advisors will come in to clean it up. They doubted the neocons from the beginning!!!

Gary,

How was I wrong? I predicted back on October 16th that the Republicans would loose Congress, and that's what happened.

The Dems won because Independent and Republican voters handed it to them. I am not alone in pointing out that arrogant and out of control Republicans in Congress brought on their own demise.

If you think that hatred for Bush and the Iraq war were the deciding factors, it's you who are out of touch.

The blogger here was wrong about the electorate ridding us of Republican rule in the house and senate. He said Iraq wasn't the issue. I am certain someone so out of touch with reality has it wrong regarding Hillary Clinton as well.
