The Vast Left Wing Conspiracy

The Old and the FecklessIn defending her husband’s debauchery, Hillary Clinton famously warned of a “vast right-wing conspiracy” based primarily on the political activism of billionaire Richard Mellon Scaife. Of course, there never was a vast right-wing conspiracy in any real sense, only a wealthy conservative funding various unrelated conservative causes. But the brawl that has erupted in the wake of the resignation of Florida Congressman Mark Foley was initiated by a left-wing activist organization that is one of the tentacles of a genuine vast left-wing conspiracy.

The eerily Orwellian “Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics” or CREW, a Washington-based left-wing political activist organization is the party responsible for obtaining Foley’s emails and passing them along to the FBI. The question that hasn’t been answered is how did CREW obtain the private emails of a U.S. Congressman, a feat that hardly smacks of ethics. Perhaps even more interesting is the fact that CREW is just one of a number of leftist organizations that receive funding from the shadowy Democracy Alliance.

The Democracy Alliance is a highly secretive fund-raising organization with well over one hundred very wealthy donors as members. Recipients of funds must sign confidentiality agreements to protect the identities of the members who want to excert a powerful influence on our nation’s politics without the bother of facing criticism for their views. The main figure behind the Alliance is none other than Hungarian-born ultra left-wing billionaire George Soros who is directing huge sums of cash to leftist organizations while witholding funds to mainstream Democrat organizations.

So when Speaker of the House, Dennis Hastert told the Chicago Tribune, “The people who want to see this thing blow up are ABC News and a lot of Democratic operatives, people funded by George Soros,” he was right on the money. What Soros and the Democracy Alliance are up to is not democracy. It is an organized attempt by wealthy elites to remake the United States to their liking without relying on a legitimate democratic process.

If Soros and his minions have their way, America will be transformed into a dreary socialist “utopia” complete with a ruling elite who themselves are not encumbered with the banal existence imposed on the masses.

Donald Trump Raises American Flag, Takes Down Town Council

Mar-a-LagoWhen it comes to patriotic impulses, the naturally ostentatious Donald Trump doesn’t hold back. High-Flier Trump has been flying the American flag a little too high for some people’s taste lately. The wealthy real estate developer and consumate self-promoter recently installed an 80′ flagpole with a 15′x 25′ American flag at Mar-a-Lago, his Palm Beach property. The only trouble is, he failed to file a permit, no doubt in part because the pole exceeds by almost twice, the height restriction of 42′.

In his defense, Trump didn’t exactly erect the pole in the dead of night. In fact, he sent a letter to the town council notifying them of the flagpole before the fact. The letter concluded with, “Please consider this a statement and gift from me to the Town and people of Palm Beach.” So as the Palm Beach city fathers prepare to do battle Trump-style, they should keep in mind that Trump has been down this very same road before.

At the Trump National Golf Club in Ranco Palos Verdes, California, he erected a 70′ flagpole sporting a huge American flag in violation of a local ordinance. But after hearing arguments from Trump representatives at a council meeting, the city wisely caved, voting 3-2 for allowing the flagpole to stay. One of the dissenters, Councilman Doug Stern, voiced his opposition this way, “The history, from my perspective, does not speak of an organization that complies with regulations. It speaks of an organization that views rules as for the rest of us.”

With that remark, Stern perhaps revealed more about himself and his own biases than about Trump’s true motivations, because Stern got it wrong. A very smart friend of mine who is older and wiser once gave me this piece of advice: “Sometimes, it’s better to beg forgiveness than ask permission.” Love him, hate him or ignore him, Trump has reached his goals by recognizing opportunities, acting on them regardless what the rule-makers and advice-givers say, and choosing his battles carefully.

Trump knows that anything he does that is the least bit controversial will get national attention, and he can’t loose on this one. He will garner points as the champion of free speech and American values, while council members who vote against him will be framed as anti-American, envious of Trump’s wealth and sucess and petty, all of which are probably true.

Is Lisa Hall the Future of America?

In response to my post of April 17, 2006 entitled, “Illegal Mexicans Waving American Flags Disguise a Disastrous Agenda,” we received the following comment today from a presumably young, impressionable, and obviously uneducated girl by the name of Lisa Hall. We reprint it here exactly as it was received, warts and all:

“First off i don’t understand how anyone can say that Mexicans are illegal. Isn’t America a ‘free country’? Well not from where I’m sitting it isn’t. How are we to decide who is legal in America and who isn’t. Just case we were born here, maybe, but then that brings me back to ‘free country’. Last i checked free was involving absolutly no money, but yet we make our fellow ‘aliens’ pay money to come and live here.

“NOw we all know that mexicans are crossing the border illegally because money is better up here and these people want to be able to provide for there families, which can’t be easy living in poverty.

“I have come to know many illegal mexicans over the last year,as a matter of fact i am dating and prgenant by one. He is a good guy just like most of the ones i have met. But what they are scared of is that they are not excepted by americans because they have commited a crime to make lives for there families easier. and what is my boyfriend to do, he wants to go back to mexico and then come back to take care of our child. Yet he is scared to go back because he may never see our child.

“Yes this issue is a very big one to the government but it is very big and i feel strongly that they should be made legal, i don’t want to raise our child with no daddy, and i know alot of other females feel the same.”

Poor Lisa is no doubt a product of our consumer-centered society, believing that the term “free country” is a financial consideration and is in no way related to the concept of liberty. She has failed to secure for herself even a basic education, courtesy of an education establishment that puts more emphasis on teaching “safe sex” and “empowerment” than, say, civics. And on top of that, she has made the decision, conscious or otherwise, to have the baby of a man who has a severly limited ability to provide for a family and who may not be here in the long term.

And one more thing about Lisa – she votes.
