Is Robert Redford a Closet Communist?

“When I see an American flag flying, it’s a joke.” – Robert Altman

“When I see the American flag, I go, ‘Oh my God, you’re insulting me.’” – Janeane Garofalo

So the questions are, what is it about America that prompts such hatred from people who have benefited so greatly here and given the choice, what would they do to change it? The answer goes way beyond “Dump Bush” and should scare the beejabers out of every freedom-loving American.

The Mod Squad

“Progressives” from all around the country are right now, gathered in Washington, D.C. at the Washington Hilton for a three day conference entitled “Take Back America.” The conference is sponsored by Campaign for America’s Future, the Democrat political activism organization that I think it’s fair to say, represents the mainstream of the Democrat Party. And that’s exactly what’s so disturbing about this.

The theme for the conference is an “Agenda for the Common Good” which begs the question, exactly what is the common good according to these folks? Well, it’s instructive to note that they didn’t just pull the phrase “Common Good” out of thin air. The phrase appears in a title by none other than Progressive heroes Marx and Engles: “Socialism and the Common Good.”

To underscore that theme, Hillary Clinton was the keynote speaker at a Democrat fundraiser in San Fransisco two years ago where she graciously informed the wealthy attendees, “We’re going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.” She was, of course, refering to a tax increase, but the use of the phrase “common good” and the notion that “we’re” taking away from “you” is straight out of the playbooks of Communist regimes of the twentieth century.

The elites who fund the “Progressives” are happy to tend to their financial empires in the morning, then stand at the dias in the afternoon and play at pseudo-Marxism. Stars like Robert Redford, who is attending this conference, believe they are above the fray and are helping to usher in a new way of life, not for themselves, but for the “common” folks.

Redford is actually a prolific Capitalist, with restaurants, a ski resort and the Sundance catalog of trendy merchandise which includes retail outlets, yet he feels the need to tell you and I what we should do with our money. The truly troubling part is that he and the “Progressives” want to cloak their intent to subjugate the rest of us with euphemisms like “Common Good.”

On Sen. Hillary Clinton receiving both cheers and boos from the crowd over her stand on the Iraq war and her opposition to the withdrawal of US troops… (seen as) her attempt to take a moderate stance on the divisive war issue in order to sway undecided voters.

What does it matter if Robert Redford is a Communist? Isn’t he allowed his own political beliefs? I however, think that he is as much a Marxist-Leninist as I am a fascist. Most of these communists you site are simply democrats, nothing more.

I also wonder why you attack “the common good”? Is it not honorable to fight for the rights of your fellow citizen? I would say “the common good” is the responsibility of the government. The well-being of a nation or of a society is dependent on the common good. Once a nation begins to abandon the common people, it must face the possibility of revolution.

In the words of Abraham Lincoln, “This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, or their revolutionary right to dismember or overthrow it”(First Inaugural Address).

Would you call Lincoln a Communist too?

there ain’t anything wrong with CLinton seeking the middle ground just like her trying to appear a moderate in the abortion issue. she’s got points. u can’t just plainly choose between black and white if there there’s something that needs to be considered to come up with a better deal which the majority can likely benefit.
